Quynh Lam Pagoda is located in Trang An ward, Dong Trieu town, Quang Ninh province, belonging to the special national historical relic complex of the Tran Dynasty in Dong Trieu. The pagoda was built from the Ly dynasty, to the Tran dynasty, the pagoda was the place where Truc Lam, the first patriarch of King Giac Hoang Tran Nhan Tong, often frequented. The Second Patriarch Phap Loa received the mission to recreate and expand the pagoda, with a scale of over 100 rooms, a large high floor, a giant statue of Maitreya Buddha, known as "Thien Nam Four Great Air".

Here, from 1316 Phap Loa established Quynh Lam Institute - the first Buddhist university in our country, a place to teach the Dharma, print sutras and distribute scriptures to other places. In 1329, Quynh Lam became the first fairy-tale landscape of the South. This is the center of sutra transmission, teaching and training of monks for Buddhism, the pagoda together with the old lam temples in Yen Tu such as Van Yen, Ho Thien, Ngoa Van ... form the monastic system of Zen. Truc Lam sect is the center of Buddhism in the country. During the reign of Le Trung Hung, the pagoda was restored and recreated by King Le Lord Trinh. In 1820, the pagoda was restored and embellished, Dai Hong Chung's big bell was cast. In 1840-1847 under Nguyen Thieu Tri's reign, the pagoda was destroyed by fire, then rebuilt as before. At the beginning of the twentieth century, the pagoda was again destroyed, becoming ruins.

Since 1997, Quynh Lam Pagoda has twice been mobilized by Dong Trieu town to organize restoration and embellishment. Especially, since 2016, the pagoda was once again restored and embellished on a large scale. After nearly 5 years, up to now, the restoration and embellishment has been basically completed with the items of Amitabha Buddha, Shakyamuni Buddha, Maitreya Buddha, Tam Quan, Stele house, steeple... Scale and stature The new Quynh Lam pagoda is more spacious than previous constructions with a budget of more than 160 billion VND from the socialization source sponsored by VinGroup.

With the restoration and restoration to match the value of the temple, it was once the first Buddhist Academy of the country under the Tran dynasty, the first fairy tale. Together with the procession of the jade Buddha statue to Quynh Lam's place, it will create a sacred atmosphere and auspiciousness for the land of Dong Trieu, creating new opportunities and favorable conditions for the continued preservation, embellishment and promotion of the values of the community. the Tran Dynasty relic site in particular; preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritage in general, creating a new highlight that attracts people and tourists of the sacred land of the masterpieces, the holy land of Truc Lam Buddhism, the original hometown of the Tran Dynasty.
